The Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC), in collaboration with the Kenya School of Government (KSG), conducted a training for a pilot project on productivity measurement and improvement, at KSG’s various campuses countrywide. The training helped to enhance the capacity of institutions to facilitate the development of the institutions’ productivity measures, metrics and indices, so as to enable inclusion of the measures into the 2022/2023 cycle of setting performance targets.
Areas covered in the training were: productivity and measurements; performance management and productivity; factors influencing productivity; public service productivity management; building a productive work place culture; productivity metrics and its computation; and key performance indicators. Other areas covered included; approaches to productivity measurement; challenges in measuring productivity; strategies for improving productivity; productivity monitoring, evaluation and reporting; and development of productivity matrix.
Following the training, and in collaboration with SRC and the National Productivity and Competitiveness Centre (NPCC), institutions provided input on productivity measurement, indices and metrics, and developed the Productivity Management Framework for each institution.
