Fire safety compliance measures are designed to prevent fires, ensure the safety of occupants, and minimise property damage in the event of a fire outbreak. Compliance with fire safety regulations is not only a legal requirement, but also a moral responsibility. Therefore, compliance is a must to safeguard the lives of the occupants of a building.

Fire safety refers to the set of precautions, procedures, and measures taken to prevent fires, minimise the risk of fire-related accidents, and ensure the safety of individuals and property in the event of a fire.

Fire safety involves a combination of awareness, preparedness, and proper safety practices to prevent fires from occurring, and mitigating their impact if they do happen.

In this regard, SRC in liaison with the Williamson House management, responded to a real fire alarm at Williamson House on 10 July 2024. Staff quickly congregated at the fire assembly point opposite the building, and only re-entered after receiving an all-clear message.

Later into the month, fire marshals from SRC joined their counterparts working in other offices at Williamson House on 31 July 2024, for a fire safety training. The training, which was carried out by KK Security, created awareness on how to prevent, suppress and evacuate people in the event of a fire outbreak.

Fire Safety Tip:

Did you know that cooking and heating are the leading causes of home fires and injuries? Thus, fire safety at home should be prioritised by practicing safety tips and protocols when using electrical appliances, cooking equipment, among other fire hazards.

In case of fire at home or at the workplace, do the following; evacuate safely; crawl low if necessary; close doors behind you; use stairs, not elevators; stay calm; follow emergency protocols; help those in need; do not re-enter the building; and call emergency services.
